Remember Brandon Banks?  The former Vanderbilt football player circling the country on a paid college campus speaking tour, addressing sexual assault with athletes while he was about to go on trial for the gang rape of an unconscious female student?  The guy pleading not-guilty? He was just found guilty of one count of aggravated rape and one count of aggravated sexual battery. The aggravated rape charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. He will be sentenced on Aug. 18.
Friday’s verdict came just a year later after Banks’s teammates Brandon Vandenburg and Corey Batey were convicted of multiple rape charges connected with the June 2013 assault. Vandenburg is serving 17 years and Batey is serving 15.
The fourth teammate, Jaborian McKenzie, who testified against his former teammates,  has pleaded not guilty, and has yet to be tried.
